Thomas Rainwater

Thomas Rainwater is chairman of the Confederated Tribes of Broken Rock and leader of the Broken Rock Indian Reservation. He is played by Gil Birmingham in Yellowstone.

Personal life[]

He is the owner of the Painted Horse Casino and the Grey Wolf Peak Casino. He is also the elected high chief for the Confederated Tribes of Broken Rock. He carries a strong ambition to take the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch and expand beyond the Reservation because he feels a desire to reclaim what his ancestors lost. Thomas was raised off the Reservation and thought he was of Mexican descend until he was 18 years old. He never knew his biological mother. According to his adoption records, he learned he was Native American. He attended and graduated Harvard University. He also interned for the American Petroleum Institute.

Rainwater wasn't raised on the Reservation and thought he was of Mexican descent until he was 18. Then, his adoption records made him realize he was of Native American heritage. He never met his biological mother. ^[1]

Rainwater took an internship at the PR firm representing the American Petroleum Institute. Worked at Emerson and then later on, he went to work for Merrill Lynch. ^[1]

As new chairman of the Confederated Tribes of Broken Rock, Thomas Rainwater is out to keep and protect the Broken Rock Reservation land. He has even stated he wants to take back what rightfully belongs to the tribes, meaning he wants to expand the Reservation and keep outsiders as far away as possible. ^[1]

Rainwater is assisted by Mo, his driver, and can also count on Emily Sessions. They helped him start a collaboration with Dan Jenkins of Paradise Valley, to build a casino and a hotel and annex the ground it will be build on, plans that do not sit well with tribal member Marcus. ^[2]

Incident(s)[]

He was arrested by the Montana Livestock Association when he stole some cattle of the nearby Yellowstone Dutton Ranch. He was kept in prison until he sent back the cattle. ^[3]
