Donnie Haskell is a Yellowstone character played by Hugh Dillon. He is sheriff and a good acquaintance of rancher John Dutton, owner of the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch.

Personal life[]
Donnie was a gambling addict and an alcoholic, he once owed a large gambling debt to the Beck brothers, Malcolm Beck and Teal Beck which they used as leverage to control him and attempt to control John Dutton. The Becks were merciless and would harm or kill anyone if it meant getting their way, but they seemed completely unaware that Donnie had a daughter and grandchildren as Malcolm once told him he wished he had children so that he could torture Donnie for failing him. Bill Ramsey once said of Donnie Haskell that he only "protected and served the highest bidder". [2]
Family[]
Haskell is a father and grandfather. His daughter is named Debbie and she has at least two kids of her own. [3] Another relation is Boyd Nelson, a cousin of Haskell. [4]
Death[]
Donnie was waiting for John at a local diner to discuss the person that they thought had tried to kill the Dutton family, Terrell Riggins, but when John and Rip Wheeler show up, they quickly notice something looks wrong. They can see through the front window that everyone is sitting and looking ahead but not eating their food. They back up the truck and drive around to the back of the diner. The men holding the diner patrons and staff hostage notice the truck pulling away, implying that they had been waiting for John Dutton to arrive. While they are distracted, Donnie slowly reaches for the pistol hidden in his boot, waiting for the right moment to take out the men holding them all at gunpoint. The two cowboys enter from the back door intending to to take control of the situation, quickly dispatching the bad guys. Donnie immediately opens fire on them as well, but is shot in the chest, knowing he is dying Donnie takes out his phone and tries to call his daughter Debbie but he's fading too quickly. John helps him by dialing the number and putting the call on speakerphone and Debbie answers after a few rings. She asks her dad if she can call him back later as the kids are crawling all over her but Donnie tries to tell her that she won't be able to reach him and dies as he is beginning to say his final goodbyes to his daughter. John walks away with the phone to tell Debbie that her father had just been killed.[3]

Haskell was the Sheriff of Park County. Bill Ramsey was one of the Watch Commanders at his office and was appointed Interim Sheriff after Haskell's death. [5]
