Market Equities, also known as MKT Equities, is a company that appears in Yellowstone.
The firm plans to buy out several land owners in Montana to build an airport, a ski resort and eventually a city. They come upon John Dutton, owner of the large Yellowstone Dutton Ranch and Thomas Rainwater of the Confederated Tribes of Broken Rock, and it's quickly decided that those are their biggest challenges.
After Jamie Dutton provided a lease for the land they needed, the firm started with the building of the airport, but the work came to a standstill when two Hammett Construction workers stumbled upon the skeleton of an animal and a human skull during their construction work. [1]
In an effort to stop Beth Dutton who was tanking their stock, Willa Hayes of Market Equities bought controlling interest in Schwartz & Meyer, Beth's employers whom she had used as a bank to buy up properties surrounding the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch, providing Schwartz & Meyer with partial ownership. [2] By owning Schwartz & Meyer, Market Equities also co-owned the properties that Beth bought up around the family ranch, something which Willa had hoped to use against her but was outmaneuvered by Beth, causing her to lose her position at the company. Furious that her career was being derailed, Willa ordered Roarke to play dirty. He tells her that he has been but they have been playing dirty right back. Roarke says it "doesn't feel much like a land deal in Montana, does it" and she tells him that this "feels like an oil deal in Yemen, and from now on, that's how we treat it" causing Roarke to escalate into directly attacking members of the Dutton family. Men were sent to the ranch, Beth's office at Schwartz & Meyer, the office of the commissioner and a van was sent to look for John Dutton who was on the road at the time the attack started. Everyone survived, but almost all of them suffered minor to severe injuries. John Dutton was in hospital for months from multiple gunshot wounds. An innocent mother was killed, her son may or may not have survived.
Under new management with Caroline Warner, Market Equities offers Beth a job but she refuses unless they agree to give her the controlling stocks they acquired when they took over Schwartz & Meyer so that she can personally fire her former boss Bob Schwartz after he abandoned her and her family following the violent attack ordered by Roarke. [3] Market Equities accepted her demand and she took on the job.,[4] but Beth later revealed to her father that she planned on taking the company down from the inside.[5] Her position at Market Equities allowed her insider information in order to help her make a plan of attack.
In the episode No Kindness for the Coward[6], there is a group of at least 350 people lead by Summer Higgins protesting the airport construction site, which included media coverage. Beth convinces her bosses at Market Equities to let her handle the press, using this opportunity to undermine Ellis Steele in front of their boss. At the construction site, Beth speaks to a reporter named Leslie and asks for her number so that she can call her when "something worth filming is about to happen", Leslie hands her a card with her cell number on it. Beth later calls Leslie to inform her of a federal raid on the camping protestors at the construction site. As Summer Higgins is being taken into custody, cameras are filming and taking pictures of all the captive protestors, ending up on the news which made the company look very bad. Ellis thinks the narrative is in their favour, but his boss Caroline disagrees and says that if this news becomes national, the narrative becomes flipped. Beth later calls Brett Eaves at the national desk from the New York Times to flip that narrative, she tells him to watch the news on KNBS and that there will be "more to come".
Sarah Atwood, an attorney hired by ME out of New York later had John Dutton III murdered and death staged to look like suicide. However this failed and she herself was killed by the hit men. Her death lead to the FBI raiding the MS Montana office looking into the company involvement with Sarah Atwood and John Dutton's death.
