Lynelle Perry

Lynelle Perry is a Yellowstone character played by Wendy Moniz. She is a Montana Governor turned Senator.

Personal life[]

Senator Lynelle Perry is the former Congresswoman and Governor of Montana since the start of the show and an ally and love interest to John Dutton. She is also elected as Montana's next US Senator in Season 5.

Marriage & family[]

Lynelle Perry was married and had a son with her husband, but her husband died before their son would be in his teens.

Love life[]

She always had a good relationship with John Dutton, whom she eventually came to known somewhat better in a romantic way as well. But even though they have a soft spot for each other their relationship never really got off the ground romantically.

Montana Governor[]

Perry felt such a strong affiliation with the state of Montana that she found a true calling in the state's governorship.

U.S. Senator[]

After some years as Governor, Perry felt she would be able to do even more for Montana if she could represent the state in the U.S. Senate. She went on the become senator and publicly supported John Dutton when he announced his candidacy for the governer's spot she left vacant by leaving for Washington.

I don't think that eminent domain is relevant in this instance. The Yellowstone entered into an agreement with M.E., making a decision that it financially benefits the state to purchase the land.
To control the lease is, uh [CHUCKLES] aside from being a likely violation of the Fourth Amendment, it's a blatant abuse of state authority. I mean, the only way to save a portion of the ranch is to sacrifice a portion.
Unless the state wants to designate it a Montana historical monument and pay the $1.5 billion dollar tax burden on the estate's behalf.
Then find a realtor and list the property or schedule an auction.
And if the state decides to purchase the land, the state can make an offer.
Eminent domain is gonna take years to prove, and that conservation easement, it's a much bigger problem than you think.
Their legal fund is a federal grant, which is to say, they can afford the fight.
Let me give you some advice. Both of you. Disagree with John Dutton's policies all you want, and, yes, they were self-serving. All he cared about was preserving the boundaries around his ranch. But, in the process, he protected this region from being dependent on tourism and real estate for its tax revenue. Take a good look at Jackson Hole and its lack of affordable housing. Look at the traffic, look at the strain on the emergency services, because that is what you're inviting.
I have an obligation to preserve the ranch, or at least as much of it as I can.
If the state wants to purchase the land, that would certainly expedite the process of completing the project.
