John Dutton Jr. was a Montana rancher. He was the owner of one of the biggest cattle ranches of the United States and left it for his son John Dutton when he died.

Dutton was born into a family of ranchers. They went through good and bad times to gather land and make a home in Montana. His father was Jack Dutton and his grandfather was John Dutton I.
Marriage & family[]
Dutton married and started a family. He had two sons. [2] John and Peter.
His son John married and he and his wife Evelyn were blessed with four children: Lee, Jamie, Beth and Kayce. They live and grew up on the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch. Kayce extended the family, marrying Monica Long and having a son named Tate, the great-grandson of John Dutton Sr. [3] Another one of their sons, John, was named after John II and his son John III, but he died shortly after his birth. On March 30, 1997 John Jr.'s daughter-in-law, Evelyn, was out riding with two of her children and fell off her horse. Help came too late and she died. [5] After his own passing, John Dutton Jr.'s oldest grandson Lee died as well. He did so while protecting the family ranch in a feud with the Broken Rock Indian Reservation. Lee’s brother Kayce came too late to help him as he died of fatal gunshot wound by Robert Long, Kayce's brother-in-law. [3]

John Dutton Sr. dedicated his life to ranching. He was the owner of the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch, located near Bozeman, MT. It is one of the biggest cattle ranches of the United States. When he died he left it for his son John Jr.
