Garrett Randall

Garrett Randall is a Yellowstone character played by Will Patton.

Randall is the biological father of James Michael Randall/Dutton but lost his three-month-old son to adoption when he was sentenced to life in prison for killing his wife Phyllis. ^[2] Garrett was able to get released on parole after serving thirty years in prison.

Crimes[]

Both he and Phyllis were drug addicts and one day while Jamie was only three months old, Garrett came home to find his infant son crying loudly, only pausing long enough to suck on the end of a crack pipe before wailing some more because he was so hungry. Garrett then found Phyllis bent over the kitchen sink while an unknown man took her from behind, presumably for drugs, so he killed her and went to prison for thirty years.

Once Garrett was released from prison, he orderd attacks on several members of The Dutton family as revenge on John Dutton for not speaking up during Garrett's murder trial and for taking his son. ^[3] His former cell mate Terrell Riggins planned the attacks and called in Checkers to put things together. ^[4] All three targets (John Dutton, Beth Dutton and Kayce Dutton) survived the attacks, albeit with several physical injuries. ^[5]

Death[]

Garret packed up his things to leave the home his son Jamie had bought for them when he realized that due to his murderous past, Jamie would not be able to run against John Dutton for the seat of Governor of Montana. Garrett was prepared to leave so that his son could have a clean election, but Beth wanted revenge for her family and gave Jamie three choices on how to handle it. Jamie chose to kill his father and get rid of his body at the train station in order to preserve his own career and his life. After speaking with his father one last time, Jamie shot him once in the head, becoming very emotional. Beth waited for Jamie at the train station so that she could take a picture of him disposing of his father's corpse in order to have something to hold over him. ^[6]
